Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday slammed former cricketer and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu for hugging Pakistan army chiefwhile attending Pakistan's newly elected Prime Minister Imran Khan's oath-taking ceremony.

Singh criticised Sidhu for hugging Pakistan army general Bajwa saying that he was against Sidhu's act.

"Everyday our jawans are getting martyred. To hug their Chief General Bajwa...'I am against this. The fact is that the man should understand that our soldiers are being killed every day," the Chief Minister noted.

"My own regiment lost one Major and two jawans a few months ago while every day somebody is being shot and whether the man who pulled the trigger is to blame or the man who gives the order which is the chief, and the chief is General Bajwa," CM Singh added.

Chief minister added that it was wrong on Sidhu's part to have "shown the affections he did for the Pakistan Army Chief".

Sidhu was see seated next to PoK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) President Masood Khan and was later seen hugging and exchanging pleasantries with Pak Army Chief General Bajwa.He has been criticised for the same ever since his return to India.

In his defence, Sidhu maintained, "If you're invited as a guest of honour somewhere, you sit wherever you are asked to. If someone (Pak Army Chief General Bajwa) comes to me and says that we belong to the same culture and we'll open Kartarpur border on Guru Nanak Dev's 550th Prakash Parv, what else I could do?"
