India's heaviest satellite GSAT-11 recalled from French Guiana, launch delayed

India has recalled GSAT-11 to conduct further tests on the satellite. According to reports, the satellite's launch date has been rescheduled from previously scheduled May 25.

Touted as Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) “heaviest communication satellite”, the GSAT-11 has been recalled from Arianespace’s spaceport, French Guiana to conduct more tests and a new launch date will be decided shortly after all tests are done.

According to reports, the 5.7-tonne satellite is not being recalled due to any technical fault or glitch.

The Indian space research agency has been tightening its precautionary measures for satellite launches after the recent episode of losing communication link with the newly launched GSAT-6A satellite.
