The eyes of the nation are on Jakarta

PM Modi hailed the winners of the Asian Games 2018 being held at Jakarta, Indonesia. 

“We are proud of the medal winners in the 2018 Asian Games and wish those whose events are left the very best. I once again urge the people of India to focus on fitness,” he said.

India has won 29 medals in the Games so far -- 7 gold, 5 silver and 17 bronze.

Atal ji made anti-defection law stricter

PM Modi also spoke about the recent demise of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee after receiving the maximum number of requests from people. 

Tributes for Atal Ji have poured in from all sections of society, PM Modi informed, adding that Atal Ji brought a very distinctive and positive change in India's political culture.

It was decided during the tenure of PM Vajpayee to fix the size of Council of Ministers to 15% of the size of the State Assemblies. Atal Ji also made the anti-defection law stricter," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the nation on the 47th edition of his "Mann ki baat" radio programme. 

The address began at 11 am and is being aired on the entire network of All India Radio and Doordarshan as well as on the YouTube channels of the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, AIR and DD News. 

In the 46th episode of the program, Prime Minister Modi remembered India's noted freedom fighter Chandra Shekhar Azad, highlighted the significance of Yoga, and hailed the Goods and Services Tax as a "celebration of honesty".

He had also said, in a tweet, that the diverse thoughts and inputs received for Mann Ki Baat greatly enriched the platform.
