India should focus on internal matters, not propagate poisonous information: Pak foreign office

The Foreign Office on Wednesday told the Indian media to stop spewing in Pakistan's general elections which were held on July 25, saying that they should focus on internal matters, reports said.

The spokesperson asked the Indian media and politicians to focus attention on their internal issues, rather than meddling into affairs of neighboring countries.

The latest elections saw an unprecedented participation from women in Pakistan. While the low number is momentous considering the country’s history, what followed on social media was severe backlash in the form of sexism.

Many users in India started comparing the Pakistan candidates with leaders at home.

The foreign office also asked India to "stop propagating venomous propaganda against Pakistan," local reports said.

The statement also comes following numerous media reports about the leading party and its leader, Imran Khan, in the general elections.
