On Wednesday, he and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed and assessed the progress made by the India-Afghanistan strategic partnership. They also expressed their determination to strengthen connectivity between the two countries, including through Chabahar port and the air-freight corridor.

"I'd like to thank Indian diplomatic institutions. What India-Afghanistan share is deep and binding trust in democratic institutions. I'm here as I'm the elected leader of Afghanistan speaking in world's largest democracy and forming relations between two democratic institutions," Ghani said in Delhi today.

"We need to understand what's at stake today in Afghanistan. What is at stake is the stability of the region," he added.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi meanwhile raised his concerns about the seven Indian engineers missing in Afghanistan Ghani, ANI quoted sources as saying.

Ghani assured Modi that he was personally looking into the matter.
