In a shocking incident being reported from the Karnataka state of India, a 56-year-old HIV-positive man was raped by a person known to him. The assailant, reportedly a friend of the man, not only raped the man but also robbed him. The entire crime went down at the victim's residence in a village near Nelamangala town that falls in the Bengaluru area.
The accused has been identified as Shyam Patil and reportedly became friends with the victim a year ago. When the victim's wife and children were out of town, Patil visited him and spiked his drink with sleeping pills. He then sprayed something on his face following which the victim lost consciousness. Patil then went on to rape him and stole 88 grams of gold and Rs 20,000 cash, along with a mobile phone. He learnt of the mishap the next day and filed a police complaint at the Madanayakanahalli police station.

Patil became friends with the victim, who worked at an NGO, after telling him that he was suffering from tuberculosis. The search is one for the accused.
