High court slams Haryana govt: You let Panchkula burn for political benefit

The Punjab and Haryana high court has slammed the Haryana government, saying: "You let Panchkula burn for political benefit".

The city of Panchkula came under attack from followers of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh after he was convicted on Friday for raping two of his women followers in 2002.

Thirty-two people have died and over 250 been injured in the violence that followed immediately after his conviction.

The court has also asked for details of Ram Rahim's moveable and immovable properties.

The court had on Friday said all his properties were to be attached to pay for the damage done by his followers.
