Heavy rain lash parts of Delhi, waterlogging in many areas

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted heavy rain at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh for Tuesday.

Parts of Delhi received heavy rainfall during the early hours of Tuesday morning triggering waterlogging in many areas. 

Torrential rain accompanied by lightning was reported around Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, parts of South Delhi, Teen Murti Bhavan, Dhaula Kuan and RK Puram among other areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted heavy rain at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Sub­Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Konkan, Goa, Telangana and Coastal Karnataka for Tuesday.

Meanwhile, flood-ravaged Kerala got a respite from unabated rainfall last Monday. floodwaters across the state are on a decline.

According to reports, nearly 400 people lost their lives in the deluge that hit Kerala this monsoon season. Over 10 lakh people were rendered homeless, taking shelter in over 5,000 relief camps put up across the state. 

While rehabilitation work is in full swing, the state struggles to get back to recovery. Cochin International Airport is expected to resume operations on August 29 after over two weeks.
