Hardik Patel tweeted after the Gujarat elections, saying "great change" was coming to Gujarat.

"A storm from the north, a lion from Saurashtra, anger from the south, together they will lead to great change," the Patidar leader said.

Voting for the Gujarat assembly elections came to an end today.

The campaign for Gujarat has been long and bitter.

And at points the ruling BJP -- they've been in power for 22 years -- has looked nervous.

A large reason for that has been Hardik exhorting his community to vote against the BJP. (The Patels make up 12 per cent of Gujarat's population.)

The exit polls however seem to disagree with Hardik.

Most of them have said Gujarat will go to the BJP again, although with a two per cent drop in vote share.

The Congress meanwhile, the exit polls say, will see a two per cent increase in vote share.

The exit polls add that the BJP will overthrow the Congress in Himachal Pradesh.

The results of both elections will be out on December 18.
