Senior BJP leader LK Advani casts his vote in Ahmedabad's Jamalpur Khadiya.  

"We have received two complaints regarding the presence of Bluetooth in polling booths in Ghatlodia and Mehsana," BB Swain, Gujarat chief electoral officer said, adding that compared to phase 1, less than 50% cases of EVM replacements had taken place in phase 2.

"Our target remains to replace the faulty EVMs as soon as possible," Gujarat's chief electoral officer added.

"We have received two complaints regarding the presence of Bluetooth in polling booths in Ghatlodia and Mehsana," BB Swain, Gujarat chief electoral officer said, adding that compared to phase 1, less than 50% cases of EVM replacements had taken place in phase 2.

"Our target remains to replace the faulty EVMs as soon as possible," Gujarat's chief electoral officer asserted.

Election Commission said 39% voting had taken place till 12 pm in the second phase of polling in Gujarat.

After casting the vote at the Nishan High School, PM Modi showed his inked finger to thousands of supporters who had gathered outside the school in Ranip locality of Sabarmati constituency.

He tweeted later saying: "Today is phase 2 of the Gujarat elections. I request all those voting today to vote in record numbers and enrich this festival of democracy."

Earlier, finance minister Arun Jaitley after casting his vote said: "Last many years we have made good progress in our development journey, and I am confident that people of Gujarat will come out in large numbers to vote for development."

"I would also appeal to the people to come out and exercise their franchise and continue the journey," the finance minister added.

Voting continued to be brisk across the state with 10 per cent voting reported in the first two hours from 8am to 10am, it is expected to pick-up in the afternoon.

The Electronic voting machine in Sankheda Sodhaliya village in Chhota Udaipur was dysfunctional for 50 minutes, reports said.

People were unable to vote as a result however, polling officer Gaurang Rana said it has now been fixed and voting has resumed.

Polling for the second phase in Gujarat elections is underway in 93 constituencies. Polling is taking place in 14 districts in north and central Gujarat with 2.22 crore people eligible to exercise their franchise.

Prominent candidates in the fray include:

OBC leader Alpesh Thakor, former Ekta Manch, who joined the Congress recently is fighting from Radhanpur constituency.

In Maninagar, Modi's former constituency which he had vacated in 2014 after becoming PM, is going to witness a bitter fight between BJP's sitting MLA Suresh Patel and Congress candidate Sweta Bhrambhatt.

In Vadgam SC seat,  Independent candidate Jignesh Mevani is fighting with Congress support against BJP's Vijay Chakravarti.
