The GST Council approved e-way bill implementation roadmap in its 24th meeting chaired by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley

The inter-state e-way bill compliance was approved by the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council today.

While the inter-state bill will be effective from February 1, the intra-state e-way bill compliance will come into effect on June 1.

E-way bill implementation roadmap was approved by the GST council in its 24th meeting chaired by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

The bill will require online registration for movement of goods worth more than Rs. 50,000. The bill will facilitate freight movement by bringing in more transparency in the process.

The state-led trial runs of the bill will begin on January 16 followed by roll-out from February.

"E-way bills would aid India's logistics ecosystem and will lead to a reduction in pricing of road freight," ANI reported.
