Jammu and Kashmir police chief SP Vaid, who was unceremoniously removed late Thursday from office, reacted to his sudden transfer on Friday.

In an interaction with media, Vaid noted that he was grateful and to God for being able to serve the people of the country.

"I got a chance to contribute my bit, I am going with a lot of good feelings," Vaid stated.

He expressed concern over deaths of youths and the unnecessary loss of human life in the Valley.

"The sooner it ends, it will be a very good news for me," Vaid shared.

SP Vaid was shunted as the Transport Commissioner on Thursday. Director General of Prison Dilbagh Singh was directed to look after the force until a regular appointment is made.

The official order to this effect was issued late Thursday by Principal Secretary, Home, RK Goyal.

Vaid, a 1986-batch IPS officer, was appointed as the Director General of Police in December 2016. He is due to retire in October next year.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah on Thursday reacted to the sudden transfer of J&K police chief SP Vaid. Abdullah stated that there was no hurry to replace Vaid.

"He should have been changed only when a permanent arrangement had been worked out. @JmuKmrPolice has enough problems without having to deal with the confusion of leadership," Abdullah tweeted out on Thursday.
