
With the killing of four militants in the latest operation by the joint team of security forces in Shopian district of south Kashmir, a total of nine terrorists have been neutralized in the span of just 24 hours in the valley.
Acting on a specific input about the presence of terrorists in Pinjora area of South Kashmir's Shopian district, security forces launched a cordon and search operation. J&K police says as the forces zeroed in on a house, an exchange of fire took place in which four Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists were killed.
“This is a big success for the security forces and we hope terrorist organisations operating in south Kashmir would be jolted by this,” said Atul Kumar, DIG police South Kashmir.
Yesterday, five Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants were killed in the Reben area of Shopain district after forces launched a similar operation.
A total of 88 terrorists have been killed so far this year and several overground workers (OGW) have also been arrested, who provide logistical and other support to terrorists.
