At annual Varanasi wrestling competition, women participate for first time
Varanasi: Women participated in a wrestling event for the first time.

But, as mentioned above, GES 2017 is not the only place strumming chords of women empowerment. The holy city of Varanasi recently saw a historic feat where women participated in the annual wrestling competition for the very first time.
The event took place at Assi Ghat, Varanasi and was organised by the Sankat Mochan Foundation. The wrestling event is organised every year by the foundation and this time around the organisers decided to introduce a category for women.
