Farooq Abdullah heckled during Eid prayers, says sloganeers his own people

Two days after the National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah chanted "Bharat Mata ki Jai" at a prayer meeting for former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the leader was heckled during Eid prayers in Srinagar today.

Abdullah was however not affected by the interruptions and continued with his prayers.

He said that the jeering and booing were by his "own people" who were misguided.

A section of the people who were hounding at the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir at the Hazratbal mosque shouted slogans of "Farooq Abdullah go back" and "Hum kya chahte, azaadi".

A group of people also tried to approach the leader who was sitting on a chair in the front row because of his ill-health.

The people were however restricted from meeting Abdullah.

Security personnel also threw a ring around the leader from Srinagar to protect him.

The Eid prayers were held at the 17th-century Hazratbal mosque in Srinagar.
