BJP Haryana Ex-MLA Shashi Ranjan Parmar
A former MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shashi Ranjan Parmar was seen in tears during an interview on Friday (September 6) after not being selected as a candidate for Haryana.
The video, widely circulated on social media, shows Parmar speaking with a local journalist. When asked about his name not being on the list, he said, “I had thought that my name would be on the list...” before becoming emotional. Parmar had been hoping to secure a BJP nomination for the Bhiwani and Tosham constituencies.
The leader repeats, "I had thought that my name would be on the list," before he choked up, broke down, and started crying.
The reporter tried to console Parmar, saying that both the party and the constituency would eventually recognise his value. However, the ex-MLA continued to weep.
“I had promised people that I was being considered. What am I supposed to do now? I feel powerless,” he said while sobbing.
The interviewer urged him to stay strong for his supporters and workers, saying, “Netaji, aap hausla rakhein (Sir, please stay strong).”
Parmar replied, “What is happening to me... the way I have been treated... I am in so much pain. How are these decisions being made?”
The Election Commission of India has shifted the voting date for Haryana’s 90 assembly seats from October 1 to October 5 to honour the traditions of the Bishnoi community, who are commemorating Guru Jambheshwar during this period.
However, the polling for the third phase of the Jammu and Kashmir elections remains scheduled for October 1. Results for both states will be declared on October 8.
In the BJP's first candidate list, announced on Wednesday, the party chose Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the current MLA from Karnal, for the Ladwa seat.
