Sridevi's 'Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raaja' completes 25 years; director Satish Kaushik apologises for it

When Boney Kapoor produced 'Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja' in the early 1990s, the film was touted as the most expensive film of its time. The film starring Sridevi and Anil Kapoor in the lead was a box office debacle and the producer had to face major losses due to the film's failure.

Its been 25 years since the film released and on Monday, the cast and crew got nostalgic celebrating the film. And while most spoke of the hardships that they had to go through when the film was being shot, the film's director Satish Kaushik, who made his debut as a director with this film, apologised to Boney Kapoor for making a flop film.

Kaushik, in a candid tweet, wrote, "Yes 25 yrs ago it was a disaster at BO but it was my first child & will remain close to heart. Remembering madam #SrideviLivesForever & my sorry 2 @BoneyKapoor who gave me a break bt was broke after d film.celebrating #25yearsof RKRCKR "

The lead star of the film Anil Kapoor also took to Twitter and wrote how he missed 'Roop Ki Rani ' Sridevi every day.

Anupam Kher also confessed having great memories of playing a baddie in the film. He perfectly described 'Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja' on Twitter as 'In some failures, there are greater success stories.'

Satish Kaushik's honest tweet though earned the director respect from the Twitterati.

Reportedly, Shekhar Kapur was supposed to direct the film when it was announced as the in 1987 but after he left the film mid-way, Satish Kaushik took over and 'Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja' finally released in 1993.
