Shah Rukh Khan has come to the rescue of distributors who faced heavy losses after the actor's film Jab Harry Met Sejal tanked at the box office. The actor, who was also the producer of the film, has returned some of the distributors nearly 30 percent of the money that they had invested in the film.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the actor has refunded 15% of the losses to NH Studioz, which had bought the rights to distribute the film across the country at Rs 80 crore. Other distributors have been refunded 30% of the losses. Each account was separately checked and analysed by the actor’s team before the payments were made.

The actor had previously refunded distributors when his films, Dilwale, Paheli, and Asoka had not done good business.

“...when Jab Harry Met Sejal began to crash, distributors sent SOS message to Shah Rukh Khan, asking him to follow Salman Khan’s steps. They asked for a refund for the back-breaking losses since Shah Rukh Khan had made good profits from the pre-sale of all India rights to NH Studioz, satellite, music and digital rights,” the report read.

Salman Khan hadalso reportedly followed the same practice when his film Tubelight did not do well.

SRK's Jab Harry Met Sejal was touted as a big film with SRK and Imtiaz Ali coming together for the first time. The film also featured Anushka Sharma in the lead and received criticism from critics and masses alike. The film managed to earn Rs 64.33 crore- far less than what was expected from the SRK film.
