'Sanju' box office prediction: Ranbir Kapoor starrer expected to earn Rs 20 crore on opening day

If reports are to be believed, the film is expected to earn Rs 20 crore on the first day, June 29. The film pits Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt in a biopic on the Bollywood actor who has a tumultuous life with many ups and downs.Ranbir will take us through Sanjay’s different phases -- those that left a lingering effect -- his golden days of stardom to rough phases where he was jailed for illegal possession of weapons.
The film also stars Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Jim Sarbh and Anushka Sharma in pivotal roles.
The trailer of the film created a buzz as it established which actor would portray who in real life in the film. What intrigued the audience the most was whether Ranbir would do justice to Sanjay Dutt and his persona. The film’s trailer and posters released also left us curious with Ranbir’s transformation as he looked eerily similar to Sanjay Dutt in his mannerisms and looks. See Munnabhai teaser here.
The film's marketing strategy has been on point with the makers ensuring that it gets record number of screens to release the film -- 4000 across India. This makes it the second-biggest release of 2018. Internationally, it will be released in over 1300 screens in 65 countries. This will be the widest release for any Rajkumar Hirani's film or that for actor Ranbir Kapoor.
