Busy with the shoot of Rohit Shetty’s Simmba, Ranveer Singh has reportedly been signed by his Band Baaja Baaraaat director Maneesh Sharma for a musical.
Maneesh is responsible for giving Ranveer his break in Bollywood and also gave him the next film that established him as a hero to watch out for, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. Also read:Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh to tie the knot on this date?
In the film, Ranveer will be seen in a love story musical -- a first for the star, according to a report published in a daily. A source quoted in the report said, "This is Ranveer and Maneesh’s third film together, after 'Band Baaja Baaraat' and 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl'. It’s a love story, but also a musical drama. The music will play a pivotal part in the narrative like it does in Hollywood musicals such as 'La La Land'."
The film is expected to go on floors in June 2019.
The actor is currently in Hyderabad shooting for Simmba as he posted a video on Instagram, giving us a preview of the mega song he is shooting for with director Rohit Shetty and choreographer Ganesh Acharya. He stars in the film with newbie Sara Ali Khan.
He will also be seen in Gully Boy with Alia Bhatt as some photos of the two came out on social media. The film is directed by Zoya Akhtar and marks the first onscreen collaboration between Ranveer and Alia. Ranveer plays the role of a street rapper. It is slated to release on February 14, 2019.
