Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Shamshera’ to release on this date!

This collaboration comes after Ranbir Kapoor recently earned accolades for his portrayal of Sanjay Dutt in the biopic titled 'Sanju'.
Riding high on the success of “Sanju”, Ranbir Kapoor who essayed Sanjay Dutt on the big screen in his biopic -- is ready to star with Sanjay himself in their upcoming film together titled “Shamshera.” We informed you of their collaboration earlier but now the makers have announced the release date of their film too -- July 31, 2020. See the first look of the film.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, the period-action drama film will see Sanjay Dutt play an antagonist while Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in the role of a dacoit. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor.
The film is expected to go on floors by the end of 2018.
Speaking about the film earlier, Ranbir said, “‘Shamshera’ is not a story of a daaku, it is a film based in the 1800s; it is about a dacoit tribe that is fighting for its rights and independence from the British. This is a great story of heroism; a story rooted in our country.”
Elaborating on the role, he added, “ It is a departure from the kind of films I have done. It is not (like) the coming-of-age lover boy roles I have done often. ‘Shamshera’ is in the aspirational space – true, badass commercial cinema.”
