Rahul Khanna feels proud of his father Vinod Khanna's prestigious award

Rahul Khanna, son of late veteran actor Vinod Khanna, on Friday expressed his happiness at his father being awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award at the 65th National film festival.

The actor took to Twitter and wrote,"So proud to hear that my dad has been posthumously awarded India’s highest honour in cinema, the #DadasahebPhalkeAward at the #NationalFilmAwards!”.

He further tweeted,"As we approach his first death anniversary, it’s such a lovely way to celebrate his life and work because, at his core, he wasn’t just an actor but also a lifelong film fan!"

Vinod Khanna was one of few actors who began his career by playing a villain and moved on to play the hero. Khanna's 'Amar Akbar Anthony' and 'Muqaddar Ka Sikandar' were the highest grossing Indian movies of 90's.

He became a follower of the spiritual teacher Osho and left the film industry in 1982 for five years.

Vinod Khanna died on April 27, 2017, at the age of 70 after a prolonged illness.
