Not someone who minces words, actress, filmmaker Pooja Bhatt has always spoken out on burning issues. The actress recently came out in support of Priyanka Chopra after the actress was trolled for an episode of Quantico.
In one of the episodes in its third season, the series showed 'Indian nationalists' as terrorists. This did not go down well with most of the people in India and the actress, who plays the lead in the series was trolled for the episode. The actress and ABC network - on which the series is aired- apologised for the episode but trolls continued.
In a scathing tweet, Bhatt called out the hypocrisy of Indians who celebrate the success of the actress as their own but are quick to point out and troll her for her show.
“When Priyanka Chopra makes a mark for herself Internationally we claim her achievements as our own & then threaten to ban her films & make her apologise for a work of fiction that has been created by someone else. Can we please attempt to be larger than that?” the actress wrote.
Earlier Priyanka Chopra had apologised on Twitter for hurting the sentiments of the people back home. Priyanka tweeted, "I’m extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I'm a proud Indian and that will never change (sic)."
On June 10th, effigies of Priyanka Chopra were reportedly burnt in some parts of Delhi protesting against the contents of the show. The network has decided not to air the episode in India.
