Is 'Julie 2' based on '90's actress Nagma's life?

Daysbefore Pahlaj Nihalani's Julie 2 is to release in theaters, the film's scenes have been leaked online.

An erotic tale, the film is being presented by former Censor board chief and features actress Raai Laxmi in the lead role. Three of the film's intimate scenes have surfaced online, hours before its theatrical release.

Reacting to the news, Raai Laxmi said, “I am busy promoting the film and wasn’t even aware of this. I can’t believe these scenes have leaked. It’s ridiculous that someone would want to do this to the film before release.” The actress was speaking to Bollywood Life.

Earlier, in an interview, Pahlaj Nihalani had stated that film was based on a well-known actress's life."Julie 2 is based on the life of a well-known glamorous actress of the 1990s and 2000s. The film’s makers are withholding the actress’ name to avoid legal trouble for the film,” Nihalini had told a news agency.

Now, latest reports suggest that the film is based on actress Nagma's life. When Deccan Chronicle got in touch with her, the actress said that it was news to her. " I have no knowledge about it and was not informed about it earlier. I am listening to it for the first time. Maybe the film Padmavati is garnering all the hype and the makers of Julie 2 need some publicity, which is why they might have hinted at such a development."

Nagma has now decided to watch the film to find out if it is based on her life or not. Meanwhile, Raai Laxmi said, “I am not denying the similarities between my character and the actress. These similarities are there. I don't know if they're deliberate or just a coincidence."

Julie 2 is a sequel to Neha Dhupia starrer Julie which released in 2004. The film will be releasing in theaters on November 24.
