In photos: Isha Ambani gets engaged to Anand Piramal at Mumbai's ISKCON Temple

In what will be the coming together of two prominent business families, Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha is set to marry Anand Piramal of Piramal Group.26-year-old Isha will get married to 33-year-old Anand in December in India.

The couple got engaged yesterday in Mumbai and as part of a statement issued on the couple’s behalf, it was revealed that Anand proposed to Isha at a temple in Mahabaleshwar and the couple celebrated the occasion with a lunch with close family members, including parents Nita and Mukesh, Swati and Ajay, their siblings, and grandparents.

The statement read: “Anand and Isha have been long-time friends and both their families share a strong bond of friendship for over four decades.”

Anand is an executive director in the Piramal Group. He graduated in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Meanwhile, Isha is a board member in Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail. She graduated from Yale University with double majors in psychology and South Asian studies in 2013 and is currently pursuing an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, that she will complete in June this year.

This will mark the second marriage in the Ambani family this year as earlier, Isha’s twin brother Akah got engaged with Shloka Mehta, daughter of Russell Mehta of Rosy Blue -- that is India’s one of the largest diamond companies.
