After doing a successful series of socially relevant movies, Akshay Kumar now reveals the release of his film on poor sanitation conditions in rural India, “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” -- in China.
The star took to his Twitter to announce the release date for the film.
The film now retitled as “Toilet Hero” for the Chinese audience will release in theatres on June 8. Helmed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film is a satirical comedy in support of government campaigns to improve sanitation conditions in India, with an emphasis on the eradication of open defecation, especially in rural areas.

The film was a big hit in India as it was able to hit the right note with many people relating to the state of sanitation in rural parts of the country and the taboo attached to it.
The film will reportedly be screened across 4300 screens in China -- a huge feat in itself.
This is not the first time that an Indian film has been sent to China. Films like "Secret Superstar", "Dangal", "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", "Hindi Medium"have all released and created a niche for themselves among the Chinese audience.
