Considering the film is based on menstruation, it's heartening to see the film being lapped up by the audience. Most families in India still shy away from discussing periods openly at home.
The film, directed by R Balki, has Akshay Kumar stepping into the shoes of Arunachalam Muruganantham who is popularly known as the Menstrual man of India and credited for inventing low-cost sanitary napkin for women in rural areas.
The film opened to mostly positive reviews on Friday with most critics citing that film was well intended. PadMan has been produced by Akshay Kumar's wife, Twinkle Khanna.
