T-series honcho Bhushan Kumar is now moving ahead with his plans to make a biopic on late label owner Gulshan Kumar titled Mogul -- who was shot dead in August 1997 for allegedly refusing to pay protection money to Dawood Ibrahim’s gang.

In a major news development, Indian actor Aamir Khan has come on board as a co-producer of the film along with leading music label T-series.

Aamir Khan made the announcement to join the team at an event on May 23.

Earlier, Akshay Kumar was roped in to play the music company magnate in Mogul but then he walked out owing to “creative differences” with the makers. As soon as Akshay walked out, T-series honcho Bhushan Kumar said that he would get a “bigger” actor than him. Khan, although will only be producing not acting in the film.

The film will be helmed by Subhash Kapoor of Jolly LLB fame.

Gulshan Kumar founded the T-Series music label and took it to great heights in the 1990s, banking on hit Hindi film soundtracks, devotional albums, and recreations of old Hindi film songs with new singers.
