Encounter underway in Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police say one terrorist killed

An encounter is underway in Jammu and Kashmir's (J&K's) Pulwama district with the Kashmir Zone Police saying that police and security forces are on the job. In a post on X, the Kashmir Zone Police, said, "Body of one terrorist retrieved. Identification being ascertained. Arms, ammunition and incriminating material were recovered. Search going on. Further details awaited."
Security forces got a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in Pulwama's Arshipora area following which a cordon and search operation was launched. During the search, terrorists fired on security forces resulting in a gun battle.
It was a joint operation of the Kashmir Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Indian Army. After the operation started, more troops were brought in to carry out a major combing operation in the area.
