Dr Kafeel Khan wants CBI investigation in shooting incident involving his brother

Dr Kafeel Khan on Sunday demanded CBI investigation into an incident where his brother was shot at on June 10.

''We demand CBI investigation or that a High Court judge investigate this case. We don't want this to be investigated by UP Police,'' Dr Kafeel Khan said on Sunday.

Accusing BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan and Satish Nangalia, owner of Baldev plaza of hiring shooters, he said Paswan has no personal enmity with his brother.

''My uncle has a piece of land which Kamlesh and Satish encroached upon in February. FIR was lodged and they had sought stay order by the high court on arrests,'' Khan said.

It was very evident that UP Police was acting on someone's instructions. Their intention was clear, he said.

It was promised that the culprits will be nabbed within 48 hours. It has been a week now but no action has been taken yet, no arrests have been made yet, Khan further said.

Dr Khan was a paediatrician at the Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur where over 60 children died in one week in August last year.

The UP government later recommended the filing of charges against Dr Khan and others, including the hospital's principal.

Khan was arrested in September last year. He was also suspended from duty.

He was given bail in April this year.
