Two men from India's financial capital Mumbai have taken upon themselves to the fix the potholes and rough patches of road that have caused several accidents in the past few months.

Recently, members of various non-governmental organisations and other foundations of the city staged a protest against the government and state civic body's inability to repair the pothole-riddled roads.

India has the world's second-largest road network and one of the highest numbers of road accidents globally. Official data recorded more than 150,000 deaths from about 500,000 accidents in 2016.

Nearly a tenth of those deaths was caused by accidents involving potholes, which are a common feature of Indian roads.
