Self-proclaimed godman Ram Rahim apparently told his male followers to sign a pledge to sacrifice their lives for him.
Investigations of arrested men of the sect revealed that a Qurbani Dal was put in place by the security department on the directions of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect leader.
The secret cult was exposed after four Dera men were arrested in Ghraunda, Karnal. The police recovered two revolvers and petrol cans from these men. The members of Qurbani Dal were instructed to issue 'Qatl-e-aam' or killing of common men, in case the leader gets convicted.
Apparently, the operation was codenamed "Paudharopan Karo" (Begin plantations) that required killing people during the disturbance.
According to media reports, the recruitment process to hire members of Qurbani Dal started a year ago. They were required to sign a pledge and were given a financial support of Rs 11 lakhs and a house.
The arrested members claim that they wanted to sacrifice their lives for Ram Rahim as they believed he was innocent.
Several hundreds of youngsters, including women, have pledged to sacrifice themselves for the so called "God".
Qurbani Dal is in addition to the 400 men who were castrated as a part of sacrifice.
According to sources, the castrated followers were told that by removing their testicles they will meet God directly.
Rahim would use these testicles to prepare a soup and claim that by consuming this soup, he will be able to maintain his strength.
Those castrated were asked to join the security wing of Dera which served as Baba's private army.
Dera spokesperson, Dr Aditya Insan, however, denies the allegations of the existence of Qurbani Dal.
