India's national capital recorded the hottest day of the season today with the mercury touching 40 degrees Celsius.

Skymet weather had earlier predicted rain or thundershowers in the capital today instead the residents in Delhi had to bear the hot weather as the day temperature touched a new high.
On Sunday, the maximum temperature recorded was 36 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was at 20.5 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the Indian MeteorologicalDepartment(IMD) today predicted normal monsoon in the country with rains due to hitthe Kerela coast in May end or early June.
"Last two year India had a good monsoon and this year also we are going to have an effective monsoon," K J Ramesh, Director general IMD said.
