
Delhi Police issued an advisory on Friday (Mar 22)urging commuters to avoid certain routes due to planned protests by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Delhi Police posted on X, "Traffic Advisory: In view of the proposed protest by Political party at DDU Marg Delhi, Traffic will remain heavy at IP Marg, Vikas Marg, Minto Road and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg. DDU marg will remain closed for traffic movement. Kindly avoid these roads and plan your journey accordingly."
Commuters are advised to steer clear of the following routes until further notice:

Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg
Krishna Menon Marg
Motilal Nehru Marg
Janpath
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road
The ITO Metro station is temporarily closed until 6 pm on Friday on the advice of Delhi Police. DMRC's official account wrote on X, "On advice of Delhi Police, ITO Metro station will remain closed from 08:00 AM to 06:00 PM today i.e, 22nd March 2024."
Massive traffic jams were witnessed, particularly at ITO, due to heavy security measures and road closures towards the BJP headquarters on Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg.
Delhi Police has deployed personnel and placed barricades around the BJP headquarters where AAP leaders and workers planned to stage protests against Kejriwal's arrest today. The police intensified border checks to prevent AAP workers from entering Delhi from neighbouring states.
AAP leaders called on party workers to gather at the BJP headquarters to commence protests at 10 am Friday, condemning Kejriwal's arrest as a "political conspiracy by the BJP".
