Delhi Health Minister, on hunger strike in LG's waiting room, hospitalised

Delhi Health Minister SatyendraJain, who has been on a hunger strike since Tuesday, was hospitalised on Sunday.

News reports said Jain had dropped four kilograms since beginning his fast.Jain had been on hunger strike in the waiting room of Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and a few of his ministers had gone to visit the LG on Monday to ask him to help call off the "strike" by Delhi's IAS officers. They began a sit in at the LG's waiting room when he refused to meet them.

The IAS officers say they are not on strike. The AAP government says they do not attend meetings called by ministers nor pick up phone calls from them.

Delhi's AAP government and the city's bureaucrats have been at loggerheads ever since an alleged assault on Delhi's Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by two AAP MLAs.

The assault allegedly took place at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's home and in his presence.

A group of Delhi's IAS officers meanwhile held a press briefing on Sunday. They said once again that they were not on strike, and that they feared for their safety.

Doctors at LNJP Hospital, where Jain was taken, have meanwhile said his condition is stable.

"After watching his (Satyendra Jain) ketone report, we decided to admit him to hospital. His blood pressure is normal now. He is having some breathing issues, but stable," Dr Passey of LNJP Hospital told ANI.

Passey added that Jain had been stable when he had been admitted to hospital but that his ketone level had been high.

It was on Sunday evening that he complained of aheadache, nausea and breathing problems.

Kejriwal also tweeted that Jain was "doing well" now.

AAP's sit in meanwhile continues at the LG's waiting room where Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is currently on hunger strike.

He had joined Jain on hunger strike on Wednesday.
