Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, during her two-day visit to Tamil Nadu, today visited the Sri Lakshmi Narayani Temple in Vellore and offered prayers to Goddess Lakshmi. She performed the traditional rituals and sought the blessings of the deity.
On the auspicious occasion of Varalakshmi Vratam, being observed across Tamil Nadu today, the Chief Minister prayed for happiness, peace, good health and prosperity for all. She said that Varalakshmi Vratam is a sacred festival rooted in faith and devotion and is associated with prayers for the well-being and prosperity of families.
On the occasion, CM Rekha Gupta extended her heartfelt greetings to all citizens on Varalakshmi Vratam and prayed that the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi continue to remain with everyone.
The Delhi CM in recent months have taken up several development work. Early this month (Aug 3) she inaugurated 'Arpan', a donation centre for old clothes at Punjabi Bagh West Metro Station, marking a significant step towards promoting sustainable waste management and advancing a circular economy in the National Capital.
The 'Arpan' initiative seeks to encourage citizens to donate their old, wearable clothes for reuse, recycling and upcycling, thereby reducing textile waste, conserving valuable resources and fostering responsible consumption. By extending the life cycle of clothing, the initiative aims to minimise waste sent to landfills while promoting environmentally sustainable practices across Delhi.
