Delhi added 10,000 coronavirus cases in just eight days from June 1

The Delhi government data revealed the city had reached 10,000 cases in 79 days earlier, however, it progressed to the 20,000-mark in just 13 days.

According to data provided by the Delhi government, the city added 10,000 cases in just eight days from June 1 even as the total number of coronavirus cases climbed to over 29,000.

India's national capital which has seen a spurt in COVID-19 cases in the past month has witnessed an average of 1,250 coronavirus cases daily.

The Delhi government data revealed the city had reached 10,000 cases in 79 days earlier, however, it progressed to the 20,000-mark in just 13 days.

On May 18 there were 10,054 COVID-19 cases in the city which shot up to 19,844 in the next 13 days.

The death toll also increased from 160 on May 18 to 473 on May 31. The death toll due to the virus has now reached to over 870 in Delhi.

The capital's first cases was reported on March 1 after a businessman returning from Italy was diagnosed with the virus.

The government data showed there has been daily spike of over 1,000 cases since June 2 in the national capital. On May 28, Delhi had recorded over 1,000 cases for the first time.
