The Switzerland embassy said on Friday that it was deeply concerned about the health of the Swiss couple who were attacked in Fatehpur Sikri near Agra on Sunday (October 22).

The Swiss embassy also thanked Indian authorities, citizens and the media for their concern, support, and compassion for the Swiss couple.

The statement by the embassy came a while after ministry of external affairs spokesperson told in a weekly press briefing that they were in touch with the Switzerland embassy.

MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that the ministry believesin quick redressal of the issue. He said that the officials have also visited the victims in the hospital to ensure their safety.

A Swiss couple, hailing from Lausanne in Switzerland, was brutally thrashed by a group of youthin Fatehpur Sikri on October 22. The couple is currently admitted at Apollo hospital in Delhi.

Earlier today, union minister of state for tourism KJ Alphons said that shooting incidents happen regularly in USas do terror attacks in Europe.

"Do we call those countries unsafe to travel ?", Alphons said, remarking that India was a very safe destination for tourists.

Alphons also said that in India, very few incidents like these take place in a year.
