The metrological department in Thiruvananthapuram has issued a cyclone alert in Kerala with high waves expected to reach 11 feet along the coast.

"Squally winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely over Comorin area," meterological office said.

Sea condition will be rough to very rough over Comorin and adjoining sea areas during next 48 hours, the metrological office observed.

Fishermen in the area have been asked not to venture into the sea. The weathermen have also said similar conditions will exist in Lakshadweep and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea during 12-14th March.
