Couple in India's UP dupes people of millions with promise of 'age reversal.' Here's what happened

A couple in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh duped dozens of elderly people of $4.16 million (Rs 35 crore) with the promise to make them young using an Israeli-made time machine, according to media reports on Friday (Oct 4).

The couple were identified asRajeev Kumar Dubey and his wife Rashmi Dubey. Citing police, a report by NDTV said that the Dubeys opened a therapy centre in Kanpur called Revival World.

The police said that the therapy centre was opened using a machine bought from Israel totransform a 60-year-old into a 25-year-old.

Luring clients with 'oxygen therapy'

The NDTV report said that the couple would deceive people by telling themthat due to polluted air, they were ageing rapidly and that the "oxygen therapy" would transform them within months.

A senior police officer told the network that the Dubeys offered packages of around $71 for 10 sessions and around $1,071 for a "three-year reward system."

This casecame to light when one of the victims of the scamfiled a police complaint alleging that she was cheated of $12,802. Based on the victim's complaint, the police registered a cheating case.

Couple absconding

The Dubeys haven't been caught yet and are suspected to have fled abroad.

A report by the Times of India (TOI) said that a manhunt has been launched for the husband and wife.
