Coronavirus: Maharashtra crosses 1 lakh cases, Mumbai at 55451

Maharashtra's Covid-19 positive cases have crossed the one-lakh mark on Friday with the reporting of 3,493 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.

It has registered a total of 1,01,141 infections and 3,717 deaths, according to the state’s health department bulletin released on Friday.

With a daily increase of 10,956 in total cases, India’s tally has risen from 286,579 to 297,535, an increase of 3.8%. The death toll has reached 8,498 with 396 new fatalities, the most ever in a day.

The number of active cases across India has increased by 4,394, compared with 3,816 on Thursday. States that have reported the biggest 24-hour jump inactive cases are Maharashtra (1,894), Delhi (1,290), Tamil Nadu (480), Haryana (305), and West Bengal (221).

With 6,166 new recoveries being reported, India’s recovery rate has improved to 49.5%; death rate has increased marginally to 2.9%.
