Class X Dehradun boarding school student allegedly gang-raped by seniors

A class X student of a boarding school in Dehradun was allegedly gang-raped by four of her seniors, news reports said Tuesday.

The reports added that the 16-year-old girl became pregnant, and that school officials allegedly tried to abort the pregnancy by giving her medicated drinks.

The reports said the girl was raped on August 14.

The girlsaid she had been called to a store room by some of her seniors on the pretext of preparing for Independence Day celebrations.Instead, she was allegedly gang-raped.

The girl only confided to her sister — who also lived in the school hostel — after she fell ill. She added that she was one month pregnant.

The reports quoted police as saying the school management allegedly tried to hush up the crime.

Police said the girl had reported the gang rape on the day of the assault itself but the school management allegedly tried to dissuade her from reporting it any further.

Four students have been detained and five school officials, including the principal, administrator and hostel caretaker, have been arrested.

The reports quoted officials as saying the girl was allegedly given the medicated drinks by the school's administrator and his wife. And that the girl was taken to a nursing home for an abortion by school officials.
