Clashes erupted in different parts of West Bengal ahead of upcoming Panchayat elections in the state.
The clashes broke out between the party members of the Bhartiya Janata Party and Trinamool Congress when some candidates were filing nomination papers for the upcoming elections.
About 25 people were injured in the clashesbetween the BJP workers and the TMC members during filing of nominations for Panchayat polls in Jalpaiguri.
While a police personnel was injured in the state's Birbhum district.
According to media reports workers in Murshidabad resorted to stone pelting, crude bombs leading to several injuries.
Members of the Bhartiya Janata Party also organised a protest against the ruling TMC for turning the "panchayat elections into a farce in the state". Senior BJP leader Mukul Roy also claimed that the TMC was not letting candidates of other partiesfile their nominations.
BJP State Secretary Shyamapada Mondal was allegedly attackedby members of the Trinamool Congress in the state's Bankura district.
