The Bharatiya Janata Party'snationalexecutive meeting began in New Delhi on Saturday evening.

The meeting being attended byPrime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani, and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, among others is expected to articulate the party's response to the opposition's combined attack on the government over the rise in oil prices.

The meetis also expectedtoformulate its strategy for the state assembly polls and the Lok Sabha elections.

The executive meeting is currently underway at the Ambedkar International Centre which works to promote the works and ideas of Dalit icon BR Ambedkar.

The two-day meeting will be attended bykey BJP leaders from all states and Union territories besides the party's national leadership.

The meet comes against the backdrop of signs of unrest among upper castes, a core support base of the saffron party, over its push for pro-Dalit laws to woo the backward community.

The ruling party is likely to highlight the central government's steps for "social justice" and "economic successes" besides its schemes aimed at empowering the poor.
