BJP government strengthened law against atrocities on Dalits: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the BJP government strengthened the law against atrocities on Dalits.
Speaking after dedicating the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial to the nation in New Delhi, Modi said ''In 2015, we strengthened the law against atrocities on Dalits. We have increased the number of crimes against Dalits enlisted in the law from 22 to 47.''
Modi also came down heavily on the previous Congress government for not recognising the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar to the country and said that Congress insulted Baba Saheb .

After Atal Ji's government, when Congress came to power they closed the files related to this project, Modi said and added that when he was given a chance to serve people in 2014, he dug out the files and worked on it.
Many governments came to power after independence but what should have been done much before has happened now, after decades, Modi noted. This memorial is a tribute to Baba Saheb Ambedkar, he further said during his address.
Baba Saheb would not have imagined that after independence govt with a working culture of 'latkana, atkana & bhatkana' will come to power. In the last 4 years our government has re-started work on programs and schemes that have been pending for many-many years, Modi said.
Earlier Modi interacted with the Delhi metro commuters and posed for selfies on his way to 26, Alipur Road, where he dedicated Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial to the nation.
