In a bizarre incident being reported from Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district, a man whose son was to get married soon, ran away with the mother of the bride-to-be just before the wedding. The story has become an extremely hot topic of discussion in the village, especially since both of them have left behind a total of 16 children. The bride's father has filed a police complaint against the man.

The man who ran away has been identified as Shakeel, whose son was to be married to Pappu's daughter. Shakeel often used to visit Pappu's home and had known the family for years. He then proposed marriage between his son and Pappu's daughter and a match was arranged. However, only a few days before the wedding, the two eloped, leaving everyone in shock. The bride's father filed an FIR in the case on June 5. An investigation into the case is taking place.

The weddingwas to take place on June 17, but the two ran away on June 3. Notably, Shakeel has 10 children while the woman has six kids.

Pappu claims that Shakeel kidnapped his wife. He says that Shakeel visited their home in the build-up to the wedding. This is when he says he seduced his wife. Pappu is still waiting to hear some news about his wife.

Bizarre cases of elopement

Recently, another bizarre case of elopement came to the fore from UP. Earlier this month, 11 women duped their husbands and ran away with their lovers and the money they got from the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana. The scheme is meant to help poor and lower middle-class families build permanent houses.

All 11 women in this case were married and had received the first instalment of Rs 40,000 ($479) from the scheme. The incident happened in the Maharajganj district of the state where the first instalments under the scheme were recently distributed

The incident came to light when a man named Sanjay reported that his wife was missing. The Block Development Officer then conducted a probe after which it was revealed that Suniya, Sanjay's wife, had run away with someone and had also taken the Rs 40,000 instalment. Soon after, 10 more similar cases came to light.
