Joy Mukherjee was arrested from his south Kolkata residence on Saturday
Tollywood Actor Joy Mukherjee was arrested by the Tollygunge police on Saturday on charges of assaulting Bengali Actress Sayantika Banerjee. According to reports, the assault was carried out when Banerjee was returning home at her Southern Avenue residence in south Kolkata.
It is alleged that both the actors were in a relationship for a long time. Joy is a popular face in Bengali television space and has also acted in a couple films. Sayantika Banerjee was allegedly attacked on Friday and lodged a complaint against the Mukherjee at the Tollygunge police station.
Joy Mukherjee was arrested from his south Kolkata residence on Saturday and has been charged under IPC (Indian Penal Code) act 279 (rash driving), 341(Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 323(punishment for voluntarily causing hurt).
