Ola will be providing machine-operated river taxis on the Lachit Ghat-North Guwahati route.

The government of Assam has joined hands with Ola Cabs to pilot an app-based river taxi service.

An MoU was signed on Sunday at the ongoing Global Investors Summit. State Transport and Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and Ola's Vice President, Operations, Vijay Ghadge were present at the event.

Ola will be providing machine-operated river taxis on the Lachit Ghat-North Guwahati route. The project will be able to cut down the commute time to 5 minutes from 45 minutes by road.

Ghadge noted that water taxis will become a localized and key mode of commute in the capital city and will also facilitate the strengthening of the transportation ecosystem.
