
A canal bridge collapsed on Fridaynear Siliguri in Darjeeling district.
The truck driver got injured in the incident and has been rushed to the hospital.
According to a report by PTI, the truck, which was crossing the bridge, is still hanging from the broken portion of the structure that connects Manganj area to Siliguri, a major city in north Bengal.
The minister of tourism, Gautam Deb visited the spot and a forensic team has also been called by Darjeeling police.
This is the second bridge collapse incident in West Bengal this week. A portion of the Majerhat Bridge on an arterial road in Kolkata collapsed on September 4.
Just two days back, a section of the Majherhat bridge in south Kolkata collapsed in which at least one personwas killed and 25 were injured.
The latest incidents have put the spotlight on the conditions of bridges in the state once again.
