Amit Shah's 'termites' remark 'unwanted', says Bangladesh

BJP President Amit Shah drew strong criticism on Monday from Bangladesh after hecompared Bangladeshi migrants living in India with "termites" who are eating into the country's resources.
Reacting to the remarks, Bangladesh Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu was quoted in media reports as saying that "Amit Shah made an unwanted remark"and Dhaka does notgive any importance to his statement as it does not carry the gravity of an official statement of India.
"We have maintained that the NRC process in Assam and the welfare of the Bengali-speaking citizens of India are internal issues of India," Hasanul Haq added.
The senior Bangladeshminister and a veteran of 1971 War of Liberation also said that Amit Shah is perhaps uninformed about the dialogue that India and Bangladesh have held at the official level on the NRC in Assam with home minister Rajnath Singh and Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla based in Dhaka in which India assured that not a single Bengali-speaking person will be sent to Bangladesh.
Hasanul Haq Inu'sresponse came after Amit Shah in a public meeting in Rajasthan on Saturday said thatBangladeshi migrants are like termites and each one of them will be sent out of the country.
At another meeting in Kota, he said the Congress treated infiltrators as a vote bank while the BJP is committed to identifying each one of them and sending them out of the country.

He also repeated the remark in Delhi, a day after and promised that if BJP is re-elected in 2019 it will pick out each and every infiltrator and send them back.
